As everyone probably knows by now, Dixie Lee (my dog, best friend, side-kick) has been under the weather for several months, with a medical situation that her vet and I have been trying to cure. Last week I brought her to him again and, this time, I requested that he give her a steroid shot to relieve inflammation and to just plain help her to feel better. He complied and she has been greatly improved since. Now, the shot is expected to have two to three weeks duration. Hopefully, when that time period is over, her improvement will have become a lasting thing. For now, I'm very happy that she is happy and her normal beautiful self again.

Could it be Lyme Disease?

I don't think so. It is a mystery to figure out though. Five surgeries and weeks of antibiotics (as well as lots of TLC) helped things temporarily but didn't bring about healing. But right now (since the steroid shot) she's feeling much better and acting like her normal self, so we are savoring this respite (and hoping it will become "the cure".
So glad to hear the steroids helped.
Jenny,
Yes, they definitely are helping. Thank you for sharing the info about Pearl's treatment; it made me realize it could also help Dixie Lee. Dixie Lee and Pearl might enjoy a "play date" or maybe just to meet and share notes :)
Thanks again for your wisdom and caring,
Clara
